Free Derek Webb

Here is what I am listening to now. It is pretty good and the price is right. In fact it is the only music that has been both good and in my price range (FREE) that I have found in a while. It is pretty cool it is fairly mellow with decent lyrics. Some of the topics covered include politics, religion, and poverty. I would guess that if you like Waterdeep you would likely enjoy Derek Webb. Although, he doesn't really sound like waterdeep. In order to find out if you like it go to his my space where you can listen to four or five of his songs without having to download anything. So you have nothing to lose listen see if you like it, and if you do download an 11 track album FREE of charge. So go to http://www.freederekwebb.com/ and download it.

For those of you who are not familiar with Derek Webb, he use to be with the band Caedmon's call.

For those of you who are not familiar with Caedmon's call, they are the band that Derek Webb use to be with.

His lyrics are pretty controversial. One of his songs compares the way that people treat the church to a harlet and a whore.

I read an article by him in Relevant magasine and he said that in his concerts people would do nothing when he sang about church in this way and they would walk out when he sang about politics.

He is a big supporter of the Blood water mission. http://www.bloodwatermission.com/

It makes people think, I like it, and it's free, at least his latest album.

I've looked at the blood water mission thing and it sounds interesting. In Africa it was amazing to see all these people walking in flip flops, plastic shoes, or even barefoot for hours to get to where they were going. The idea of providing clean water is definetly a good one. If your sick how do you get water if you have to walk a mile or two to get it? Not to mention the sanitation that water affords. Anyway here are some bits of info from their site.

Did you know that millions of Africans lack access to clean water?

Did you know that people living with HIV/AIDS are dependent on clean water to survive?

Did you know that $1 provides one year of clean water for an African?
